Roman Provincial Coins
Various Emperors
These coins are double struck, mis-struck or just plain struck strange.  They're just oddities that I kept .
Septimius Severus
AE33 x 27, 14.04 gms

Obv:  Unreadable

Bust of Severus right

Rev: Unreadable

This coin shows the obverse portrait reasonably well centered.  The reverse is grossly off-centered causing a deformation of the coin.  It appears the edge of the die has been imprinted on the reverse.  What happened here?  An interesting but insignificant coin except as a question maker.
Septimius Severus
AE30 x 32, 10.29 gms

Obv:  AVK
L CEPT CEVHPOC
Laureate bust of Severus right

Rev: Unreadable

This coin shows the obverse portrait reasonably well centered.  The reverse is double struck with the portrait of the river god being apparent.  The letters INA are visible on the reverse but little else.  I suspect the coin was struck at Augusta Traiana, Thrace.
